We very much enjoyed students coming to school dressed to mark a day that gives proper exposure to the varied heritage in our community.
Akbar Kyshtoobaev (Year 13) spoke for all of us in Assembly when he stated with absolute clarity that it is our differences that connect us. He talked about his background as member of a Kirghiz family in a way that was educational, amusing and ultimately inspiring. We are immeasurably better for the cultural and ethnic mix of the school, and I am grateful to all those who embrace days like today.
I am also grateful to Lauren Smith for organising it all. There was some remarkable food available at the bake sale.
As I write I am looking at Hamish Weaver (also Year 13) crossing the Yard with a recycling bin full of paper, dressed in a Scottish rugby shirt and a kilt. Bizarre, but it sums up this final day of an exceptionally busy term.
