Last Friday the members of the Cusack family overcame their fears and climbed the 80 steps to the top of the scaffolding tower at Skinners' School.
Despite Mrs Cusack's fear of heights and the potential for her to rename the climb as The Skinners' "Tower of Terror" climb, all the family safely reached the top and enjoyed the views.
On his return to terra ferma Ben Cusack Yr 11 reflected,
“Last Friday, I had the privilege of being the first Skinners’ pupil to climb the eight stories of scaffolding to the rooftops of the main building. It was fascinating to see the school from a completely different perspective — especially spotting all the tennis balls stranded across the roofs!
Mrs Waghorn explained the extensive work being carried out to repair the spire, and it was really interesting to get close enough to see the damage for myself.
I’d encourage others to take part in this unique opportunity — not only to enjoy the incredible views across the town, but also to help raise funds to ensure the school building remains in excellent condition for years to come.”
If you wish to have this once in a lifetime opportunity, we are still taking booking every Friday in May and June. By booking a climb, you are helping to raise funds for the restoration of the 140 year old Spire.
